Greetings, IPD Philly community!
Happy Winter from Indigenous Peoples’ Day Philly, Inc!
Winter is a sacred season across Turtle Island—a time for rest, reflection, storytelling, and renewal. As we honor this season, Indigenous Peoples’ Day Philly is excited to share our Winter Newsletter.
In this issue, we highlight powerful LandBack stories, including the Jim Thorpe Center for the Futures of Native Peoples at Dickinson College and the return of land to the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. We also explore resistance to Bill 5 in Canada, spotlight organizations advancing Indigenous sea farming, identity, and land rights from Turtle Island to the Caribbean, and share educational resources and books centered on Indigenous sovereignty, Treaty rights, border histories, and the legacy of the Indian Boarding School system.
We’re also launching our Year of Awareness, a year-long multimedia campaign to celebrate, defend, and reinstate Indigenous Peoples’ Day, alongside our new monthly newsletter, From the Movement Desk. Plus, don’t miss our first recap from the 9th Annual Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebration at Shackamaxon (Penn Treaty Park).
Join the revolution of the heart! ❤️🔥
