Editors’ + Event Team’s Message – Fall 2021

Dear IPD Philly Community,

Happy equinox from Indigenous Peoples’ Day Philly!

We have exciting news! From the upcoming Virtual Week of Action (Oct 5-11) to the first official Indigenous Peoples’ Day in the city of Philadelphia on Monday, October 11th, there are many stories and actions in store for you this Fall. Here are some important updates our team has to share.

First, read the stories of Indigenous people through our quarterly newsletter filled with the latest news that affects our community, opportunities for grants, upcoming events, important lessons on Indigenous history, volunteer opportunities, and much more!

Also, after much anticipation, and much-needed negotiations with the Mayor’s office, we are delighted to announce that we are officially celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day in the city of Philadelphia at Shackamaxon (Penn Treaty Park)  on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 11 AM EDT – 5 PM EDT. This year we have an amazing lineup of Indigenous dignitaries, artists, sponsors, and vendors who will be at this city-wide event to celebrate the first official Indigenous Peoples’ Day in the city. All are welcome to this public event.
