Hello,
We are ramping up for Indigenous Peoples’ Day Philly’s fourth educational workshop:
Let’s Indigenize the City with Indigenous Peoples’ Day:
An antidote to Anti-Indian / Anti-Native racism, white supremacy, and settler colonialism.
This workshop, to be held on Saturday, January 22nd from 1 pm-3:30 pm EST via Zoom, aims to deconstruct stereotypes of “the Indian,” build a narrative in its place that celebrates the wealth of Indigenous cultures, histories, knowledge, and politics, and create an educational environment that is empathetic and caring to Native Americans from across the Americas. While this is the fourth workshop, we welcome new and returning attendees!
For this last workshop of its series, we have invited guest speakers to help us reflect and discuss Indigenous identity, more on the Lenape in Diaspora, and what we can do to amplify Indigenous Peoples’ Day throughout 2022.
Returning attendees: we strongly encourage each of you to share any progress you and your organization have made on your plans to Indigenize your organization! Please come prepared to discuss your past, present, or future ideas with the group.
Registration is limited. Please sign up here by January 20th. For general questions, please contact Nikki Apana (nikki@ipdphilly.org) or Mabel Negrete (mabel@ipdphilly.org).
We look forward to seeing you at our third workshop!
In Community,
