It’s that time of the year, join our Giving Season Fundraiser!

On Giving Tuesday, November 29th, we are kicking off our Giving Season!

Join us in celebrating this special time by spreading the word, creating a fundraiser, and/or becoming a recurrent donor or volunteer.

WHY

We are awesome and here is the exciting news we want to share with you.

Looking back at 2022

We’ve had another amazing year thanks to all of our incredible board members, advisors, staff, volunteers, supporters, sponsors, donors, and allies! We want to take a moment to reflect on 2022 to celebrate our successes and look forward to the next year and beyond!

  • This year we held another unforgettable Indigenous Peoples’ Day at Shackamaxon (Penn Treaty Park, Philadelphia) on October 10th! We truly appreciate everyone who attended, volunteered, performed, worked, spread the word, and donated to the event. You can learn more and watch the event online here!
  • We raised funds to fly Theresa Johnson (Delaware Nation of Moraviantown, Ontario, Canada) and a few of her relatives from Canada and the USA to their ancestral homelands of Lenapehoking for #IPDphilly2022. She spoke on stage a few times during the event, and you can watch her on our Livestream here!
  • We held several successful Coalition Building Workshops throughout the year with several institutions in Philadelphia. You can learn more about our workshops here!
  • Some of the fabulous teams behind our programs include:
    • The EDU Team does in-person and online educational initiatives like our Coalition Building Workshop series to deconstruct bias and racist prejudices toward Native Americans and Indigenous Peoples. They also provide consulting services to schools and organizations on a case-by-case basis.
    • The Action Community Team (ACT) takes care of coalition building, organizing rallies, starting petitions, and other actions to advocate for the rights of Indigenous peoples and support our policy objectives.
    • The Communications and Media Teams create various media content, including articles, newsletters, videos (live-streamed and pre-recorded), infographics, and social media posts. We distribute media through our website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, e-mail distribution lists, and media partner channels.

Looking forward to 2023

It’s hard to believe 2023 is just over a month away! As our organization continues to grow, we’re excited about our goals for the next year.

  • Holding another amazing Indigenous Peoples’ Day in 2023!
  • By the Summer of 2023, we aim to retain and have additional staff to help us grow!
  • Our EDU Team will hold more Coalition Building Workshops for 2023!
  • Our Action Community Team will continue the push to make Indigenous Peoples’ Day a statewide holiday and campaign to mandate tribal history in Pennsylvania.
  • We will continue strengthening our relationships with the Lenape people in Philly and the diaspora.
  • We aim to start a series of think tanks for Native peoples in the area.
  • We will also continue to grow our media presence with new monthly announcements for our e-mail subscribers and our quarterly newsletter and website.

IPD Philly has grown so much since we were founded in 2017, and we couldn’t do it without the help of all our board members, advisors, staff, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and supporters!

Thank you so much to each and every one of you for all the support!
