Indigenous Peoples' Day, Philly 2025
WATCH THE LIVESTREAM!
On Monday, October 13th, 2025, hundreds of Philadelphians watched or joinned in person this citywide movement at Shackamaxon (Penn Treaty) Park from 10:30 AM to 5 PM EDT. The event marked the Ninth Annual Indigenous Peoples’ Day in Philadelphia, organized by Indigenous Peoples’ Day Philly, Inc. (IPD Philly).
About The Event
This year, despite the challenging weather, we had a fantastic line-up of Cultural Warriors.
We were honored to welcome back two prominent members of the Delaware Tribe of Indians from Oklahoma, Curtis Zunigha and Tonya Anna, to share their extensive knowledge and wisdom. Curtis spoke about the rich Lenape cultural traditions, while Tonya, the Assistant Chief of the Delaware Tribe, opened the event with a welcoming speech. We also had the pleasure of welcoming back Representative Christopher Rabb from the 200th district in Philadelphia County. Since 2017, Representative Rabb has been serving the 200th district and remains a strong ally of Indigenous communities throughout Philadelphia and Pennsylvania.
We were thrilled to debut several exciting performances: The Lenape Dancers from Oklahoma, a group representing the Delaware Tribe of Indians; renowned composer and quena player Sergio “Chucho” Cuadros; talented Pawnee and Seminole hip-hop artist and producer Marcus “Quese” Frejo; Inkarayku, a fusion Andean band based in New York City; and Canpatlaneci, a Philadelphia-based Aztec dance troupe. They were joined by two other Philadelphia-based dance groups, Kamaxtle Xiuncoatl and Huey Xolotl.
